A golden retriever immortalized in 2,102 bricks sounds like a slam dunk — but the finished model sits in that awkward middle ground where it's too big to ignore and not striking enough to anchor a shelf.
Is the price fair?A-Fair for 2K pieces, even if the result doesn't justify every dollar.
Will you love it?C-The concept charms more than the finished model does.
Holds its value?B+Retirement value looks promising — dogs sell, and this one's got a devoted fanbase waiting.

The Full Take
The concept is irresistible: dogs are universally loved, and LEGO® has gotten increasingly good at translating animals into sculpture. At 2,102 pieces the build is substantial, and $139.99 lands in a range that feels defensible for what you're getting. The problem is the execution — the finished golden retriever reads as lumpy from most angles, and the iconic floppy warmth of the breed doesn't quite survive the translation to studded geometry. It's the kind of set you're excited to open and slightly deflated to finish. A C overall isn't a disaster, but for a subject this charming, it should have been better. The B on price and B+ on hold suggest the market sees potential even if the model itself doesn't fully deliver.
