8,278 pieces and the build clocks in at a 9.9 — Minas Tirith is essentially a weekend-long ritual disguised as a set. The finished model earns serious shelf real estate, though twelve minifigs for $650 will raise eyebrows.
Is the price fair?A+$650 for a nearly 8,300-piece licensed Icons centerpiece — the math works out unusually well here.
Will you love it?CThe build is extraordinary; the minifig count is not — your enjoyment depends heavily on which matters more to you.
Holds its value?B+A B+ hold suggests steady long-term value, not a moonshot — solid floor, modest ceiling.

The Full Take
The build experience here is the headline: a 9.9 difficulty score means this is less a LEGO® set and more a long-form project you schedule around. Minas Tirith's tiered white city translates to plastic remarkably well — the layered stonework and scale feel earned rather than approximated. At $649.99, the price grade lands at an A, which is rare for a set this large and this licensed. The catch is what you actually get beyond the structure itself: twelve minifigs across 8,278 pieces means the character roster feels thin relative to the brick count. For Middle-earth fans who want a centerpiece, this delivers on presence. For everyone else, the scale may outpace the payoff.
