The Full Take
Blacktron hasn't had a flagship set since the late '80s, so the Renegade carries a lot of expectation on its angular shoulders. The design delivers on shelf — that classic black-and-yellow palette is immediately recognizable, and the ship reads as a proper centerpiece rather than a nostalgia cash-in. Four minifigs is fine, but at $99.99 for 1,151 pieces, LEGO® is leaning hard on the IP to justify the tag. The build itself has some satisfying moments, particularly the cockpit and wing assembly, though it won't challenge experienced builders for long. Casual fans who grew up with Blacktron will feel the pull; everyone else should weigh whether the license is worth the premium. It's a B- set in a world where it could have been an A with tighter pricing.
