Few LEGO® sets nail mid-century American diner energy the way this one does — the neon signage details, the curved facade, the rooftop details all pull together into something that looks like it belongs behind glass. The build experience is the star: 2480 pieces of layered modular construction with enough technique variety to keep even experienced builders locked in for hours. The 'what you get' score takes a hit because the interior and minifig accessories feel a little sparse for the price, but the exterior more than compensates. At $169.99 this was fairly priced at launch, and the secondary market has rewarded patient sellers since retirement. It's a B+ overall because nothing is broken — the weakest link is just that the inside doesn't quite match the ambition of the outside.
